Makes growing cannabis seem LESS complicated, not more2010-06-165 / 5
This book is a great introduction to getting a closet garden started. Step-by-step is explained the basics of how the plant grows, how they produce bud and how to keep seeds from growing in your crop. It all seems pretty basic now, but I didn't know most of this before I got started (recent Medical Marijuana grower here!).

Then is covers all of the equipment you need for a small to medium garden like a closet or a spare room. It seemed comprehensive in it's scope and provided balanced information on how to choose what's right for a given sized room or environment. It even describes how to sketch out your room and fill in all of the equipment piece by piece as you need it so you don't end up buying stuff you don't need or would easily grow out of needing.

The last half of the book covers the actual grow and unlike some other books I read, it really broke down the science and know-how to a very simple understanding so even I could make it work. I think that might be a big difference in that this book makes growing seem less complicated, not more complicated. I was far less confused after I read this book and everything started making sense. I finally felt confident to start buying equipment and getting things on track. This isn't the only book I use now, but it's the one that broke through to me and got things started.

Thanks to the author!

Gives you more info then you thought was out there. A must read for all gardeners.
Better than a "bible" for new and intermediate2010-04-234 / 5
This is a very good dummies style guide to getting started or improving your existing home garden. I recommend it for beginners and intermediate, but not necessarily advanced growers. Everythign in the book is geared toward a small to mid size indoor closet/shed/attic grow. It's also fairly focused on hydroponic gardnening which is what my focus in on, so it was a good primer on what to buy and how to install it which can be as complicated and certainly as important as the the phases of growth.

I don't normally write reviews, but I was picking up another copy for a friend of mine and saw the last review. There are some valid points, but I didn't feel it lacked any information if you were planning to grow indoors with hydroponics, which I'm betting most people are. He's right in that the book is based on buying equipment and not building it yourself. THAT is a book I'd like to see and I think intermediate/advanced growers would appreciate a book like that so they can expand their gardens or start new ones by building rather than buying. Its not cheap to start a hydroponic garden and once you go through your first few grows you realize that some of that overpriced equipment (trays, reservoirs, tubing, etc.) could have been assembled through home depot instead of the expensive hydro stores. So, somebody write that book!

Overall, this book is a keeper and I wouldn't be surprised to see some gardening classes use it as their textbook.
Limited Scope of Information2010-04-222 / 5
I bought this book because I'd read that it walks you through your first grow. That's true, if for your first grow you plan on spending several hundred dollars on expensive lighting and hydroponic systems. If you want to learn how to grow using CFLs or soil, you're out of luck - they're not even mentioned. Nor does it tell you what items you might be able to build yourself instead of shelling out for. Basically, this book doesn't tell you about different ways you can grow, it only shows you one (very expensive) method.

In addition, it's poorly edited. There are several places where a word is missing or misspelled, and at least one paragraph that was printed entirely in the wrong place - the heading is "Exhaust up through the attic" and the paragraph below is about light reflectors.

I've found more useful information for free on grow forums than I have in this book.
Very Nice2010-03-145 / 5
Well Balenced in my Opinion, contains info on the cycle of life of a plant, elements of growth, and other info about the plants,it covers hydroponic basics, where to grow, lighting, fans, hydroponic systems, water and nutrients, putting it all together, grow room security, seeds and seedlings, vegetative growth, clones and mother plants, flowering, harvesting, plant stress and pests, this is a great book if you are on a small budget i would also recommend getting "Marijuana Buds For Less by SeeMoreBuds" also availible on . Because i needed more money of the free super saver shipping for my order, I bought "Marijuana New School Indoor Cultivation by Jeff Mowta" i thought it looked good from the look inside thing, so when it comes and i have gone thru it i will put up reviews for it and the second book i bought, everything i bought for growing i bought from email me if you want to know what i got for my setup mgen.joker@gmail.com
