| String Edger | 2010-09-06 | 4 / 5 |

| I have used the cordless string trimmer three times and like it very much. It does a great job of edging. The only problem I have had is that the string seems to break off quite often. On three ocasions it broke inside the spool and I had to use a screw drive to get the end lose to restring it. It seems the string was welded to itself. It is easy to restring one you are able to find the end and pry it lose. It give you a very nice edge. |
| Extremely Poor Battery, Non-existent Customer Service | 2010-09-05 | 1 / 5 |

I purchased this item 5 months ago, and have only used the product 2 times a month since receiving it. It worked well for the first few months, after which the trimmer would only run for 2 or 3 minutes at a time after charging. The 2nd recharge after this starting occurring yielded a flashing red light on the battery charger indicating that the battery is bad.
I registered the product on the WORX site after purchase, and followed the limited warranty information on their site. I contacted WORX customer service on 3 separate occasions, followed up with email via their site, and the only response I received was an email telling me how busy they were and they may not be able to get back to me... but keep trying - unbelievable!
I researched the battery problem, and found it is the most common problem plaguing this unit, and another battery model is recommended to correct the problem (at $80 consumer cost). WORX lists the WA3512 (original battery) as out-of-stock with no estimated date of stock arrival. In my opinion the unit has a faulty battery design, and it seems problem avoidance is the solution WORX has chosen. I am escalating my complaint to the BBB, FTC, and the CA Attorney General's office of consumer protection to seek resolution.
I would never recommend a product with either known performance problems or poor customer service, never mind both. I would strongly advise finding a reliable and appropriately support alternative, and avoiding this product entirely. |

| It worked great for the first 2 months. Now the battery does not hold a charge. |

| Seems to be a good working trimmer. I really like the ease of converting to an edger. |

| I bought this trimmer in July 2010 through . The first time I used it the battery died before I finished my yard. I have an average size suburban lot, not really that big. The second time I used it the battery died after five minutes. When I tried to charge it the charger code told me the battery was defective. I called the customer service line twice and both times I was on hold close to an hour and no one ever came on the line to help. They do play nice commercials for their products to you while they make you wait and do offer to call you back the next day but who wants to stay home all day waiting for a call from them. Also, when you call there is no clear cut choice of warranty replacement parts as a choice. You more or less have to guess who you want to talk to from the options they give you. There is also no clear cut option on their website for warranty replacement parts. I next tried to email them. I received an email back that due to the high level of emails being received there will be a delay in answering them until further notice. Still have not received an answer. This is absolutely one of the worst customer service departments I have ever dealt with. Actually, I have not really dealt with them since they never answer. I can't really comment on the product as a whole because I have not been able to us it enough to decide. I can't just return it because by the time I needed to use it for the second time it was past the return date. If I decided to bite the bullet and just buy a new battery it will cost me at least half the cost of the whole trimmer. Based on the customer service alone I would not recommend this product. |
